Tornata disc medic belongs to a group of annual legumes. It is characterised by light to dark green leaves and runners and plants are hairy all over. Pods are disc shaped and set in dense clusters. Suited to soils with a pH range of 6.2 – 9.0.Tornata disc medic demonstrates good seedling vigour and rapid establishment whilst hardseed characteristics ensure constant regeneration of palatable dense pasture. Tornata disc seed set is higher than most other medics and it is the only medic to grow well on neutral to slightly acid soils. Tornata also demonstrates good tolerance to white snail damage. Grazing of dry pasture after Tornata seed set is recommended to aid burial of seed pods. Set stocking is acceptable in subsequent years however it is necessary to avoid heavy grazing during flowering and pod filling.
