FLAMENCO SULLA
FLINDERS SULLA |
|
Flamenco is a vigorous upright growing biennial legume usually living for 2 years. It has been developed by WA Ag and is a selection of a line collected in Tunisia in 1981. It is a deep-rooted, non-bloating, highly productive legume with its main growing period from autumn to early summer. Flamenco is dormant over summer and regenerates from crowns in early autumn.
Flamenco produces exceptional quality pasture, silage and hay. It contains condensed tannins which have anti-bloating properties and reported anthelmintic properties that assist in internal parasite control. Flamenco is adapted to slightly acidic to alkaline soils (pH 6 – 8.5), which are well drained and can tolerate some salinity. Sulla requires a specific inoculant strain to assist nitrogen fixation. Flamenco is highly tolerant to aphids, with moderate tolerance of red-legged earth mite and Lucerne flea.
