Biserrula is a deep rooted, hard seeded, aerial seeding self regenerating annual pasture legume. It will grow
on a wide range of soil pH (from 4 to 8) and textures. Biserrula produces good quality forage in terms of dry
matter, digestibility, metabolisable energy and crude protein. It demonstrates early vigour in regenerating stands.
Developed by the Department of Agriculture and Food WA.
CASBAH – Early maturity suited to areas of 300mm+ rainfall with 100 to 105 days to flower after emergence
MAURO – Mid maturity suited to areas of 450mm+ rainfall with 115 to 120 days to flowering after emergence
Both Casbah and Mauro produce high quality grazing for sheep and cattle in both green and dry forms.
Due to its hard seededness, Biserrula is protected against false breaks. It grows in a wide range of soils
and pH, tolerates heavy grazing and is quite drought tolerant. Its deep rooted nature (over 2m) means it
will continue to grow, flower and set seed as long as it has access to moisture..
