Tuckerbox is a reduced awn, medium season, tall, disease and
rust resistant, dual purpose triticale.
Tuckerbox is resistant to all current Australian strains of leaf,
stem and stripe rust. Tuckerbox is resistant to Cereal Cyst
Nematode. (CCN)
A tall variety with high tillering capacity, thin stems and long
tapering heads, white chaffed with excellent grain quality. An ideal
variety for hay and silage bred for high Metabolisable Energy (ME)
levels and high dry matter yields.
Tuckerbox is a true dual purpose cultivar providing options to
farmers with the combination of high yield and very good
standability for hay or silage crops. It is quick to graze from dry
autumn sowing and produces high yielding, high quality grain.
Tuckerbox is most suited to production areas of 450mm annual
rainfall or greater, but will grow to maturity in lower rainfall or
tough seasons. Approximately 1 week later than Rufus in
heading, slightly earlier than Yukuri.
