Rufus is a medium season, tall, white-chaffed, reduced awn, disease resistant dual purpose triticale,
developed at the University of New England in NSW.
Rufus is resistant to all current Australian strains of leaf, stem and stripe rust. It also shows resistance
to cereal cyst nematode as well as root lesion nematode. Rufus offers a disease break capability with the
flexibility to produce hay or grain. Rufus has shown excellent biomass production and quality making it a
good option for hay production. Rufus provides a good shorter season option making it ideal for hay
production in areas of 350-700mm rainfall.
